What is a spiritual tune-up? What does it mean to do an inventory of my present sanctification? Before I answer those questions, let me tell you how this article came about. I woke up this morning with a sense of urgency. At first, it felt like a burden for prayer. I have felt this feeling before but usually not till the first of the year. One of my spiritual habits that I have maintained over the years is to take some time away with the Lord to get direction for that year. Today, I heard the Lord say the word “sanctify”. I said to the Lord, Father I am not coming to you for an article I really want to hear from you. He said it will be for both.
When I think of the word sanctify, I think of purify, make holy or separate unto the Lord. He said its more than that; I am calling you to begin now to prepare for the new season. He said what you have been sharing is coming from me. I am going to do a new thing. You need to begin now to get ready. You need a tune-up!
I have been sharing that the end of February beginning of March will usher in the new season. The end of the first quarter of 2022 will not come without the visible signs of those things we have been prophesying and expecting. I wish I could tell you that it will look good. It will not, but it will be good for His Church and the sons of the Kingdom.
I know people love to follow the prophets who prophecy peace and prosperity. Look at the Trump non-election of 2020. Most of His Church was deceived by the prophets for profit. I am not going to debate if the election was stolen, but if it was, why didn’t the super prophets prophesy that the election would be stolen? I will just leave it right there! I am not even going to go into the “Pandemic would be over by Passover” debacle. Lord have mercy on our ears!
Whenever the Lord was going to do something with Israel in the Old Testament, he would tell them to prepare (do a tune-up) by saying things like;
and said to them: “Hear me, Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry out the rubbish from the holy place.
2 Chron 29:5-6 NKJV
Five different places in the Old Testament He tells the people to sanctify themselves. It is a command, but it requires the people to participate voluntarily. Likewise in the New Testament, speaking now to the new Israel of God, the Church, the Apostle Peter says by way of the Holy Spirit;
Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
1 Peter 1:13-23 NKJV
To “Gird up the Loins” of your mind speaks to cinching your mind and tightening the belt. In Old Testament language it meant reach down and grab the bottom of your robe, pull it up inside your belt and get ready to run. So, the Lord is calling His people today to get ready for what’s coming. We must sanctify ourselves to be full prepared for this new season that is almost upon us. That will require a spiritual tune-up, a new inventory of where we are spiritually. The Lord will not force it upon you. This call only goes out only to those that can hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church today.
So how do we sanctify ourselves? How do we prepare our hearts and minds to be fully connected to the Lord? Well, we know that His Voice by way of the Holy Spirit should be the principal thing we are in tune with.
For that to happen while living in this culture means we need to turn off the mis-information assault we get daily from the media and those friends and relatives who have become the preachers for the lies and half-truths they propagate. The younger you are, the more plethora of daily videos control your mind and thought life. Most of what I am talking about has now become habit to many and they find yourself grabbing their phone for entertainment without even thinking about it. Sanctification is a work of the Holy Spirit, and He stands ready to help us, by speaking to us, just as soon as we turn off the “voice of the street.”
Don’t live a lie as the Apostle Peter said because too great a price has been paid for you. Don’t measure your spirituality by comparing yourselves with others around you. They are not the standard; the Lord Jesus is. We are to attain to the full stature of the Man Christ Jesus. As the Lord walked on this earth, so must we. This society has dumbed down people by blurring the lines of sub-standard Christianity.
An Olympic high jumper does not need to question whether the low bar is good enough when He has been called and trained to break high jump records. So, we have been called and anointed to walk in a high level of holiness and power, stepping in the very steps our Lord walked in when He walked on this earth. And please…….don’t tell me what you do on Sundays inside the four walls of a building!
What things need to be sanctified (spiritual tune-up)? Here are a few I heard this morning. Sanctify your time, sanctify your treasures, sanctify your health, sanctify your desires, and sanctify your speech. Some years ago, the Lord spoke to me in the wee hours of the morning and just gave me a Bible verse Matthew 6:21. I didn’t know what it said, so I got up and opened my bible and there were these words.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matt 6:21 NKJV
The enemy knows if He can get us to value things according to this world, soon he will control our heart. Whatever controls our heart controls our time, will, and devotion. The enemy will not openly have you reject your love for the Lord, but he will slowly displace that love for the love of earthly things. Once the enemy has your eyes, he will soon have your heart. If there is anything I am positive about for next year, 2022, is the Lord wants His Bride back, and He is going to do what it takes to get her attention. The Lord is saying it’s time for a spiritual tune-up.
What are our choices?
- Have 2022 catch us unaware and pay the price of our disconnect.
- Have 2022 catch us unfocused and pay the price of having to get ready during the problems.
- Have 2022 catch us misdirected and misinformed and watch the losses abound around us.
- Have 2022 catch us satisfied with our sub-standard spirituality and miss the blessings of pleasing the Father fully.
- Finally, have 2022 catch us ready and prepared whatever happens that we may be useful instruments in His hands to love others and shine for Him in the midst of it all.
It is my prayer that you talk to the Lord. He is a good Father, merciful and kind and willing to help any who come to him with a humble and contrite heart. Starting today I am placing myself on High alert. Will you join me as the Lord leads? Will you ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you in what areas of your life need a spiritual tune-up?
Much love,
Jose L. Bosque
2 Cor 2:17
17 For I am no peddler of God’s message, like most men, but like a man of sincerity, commissioned by God and in his presence, in union with Christ I utter his message.
Be honest; do you need a Spiritual Tune-Up?
I know this is a serious article but I thought this Meme was too real!
