Giving is a dirty word in today’s society! The religious system of Christ peddlers has seen to it that financial manipulation is the number one reason this generation shies away from Church today. No other subject has brought such a negative blemish on the body of Christ. Because of this, do we now surrender the word and the teachings of the new covenant about it? In my spirit I hear “NO.” Here is a word for us! We may be low on gas but there is a fill-up coming!
“Kingdom entrepreneurship” almost sounds like an oxymoron. It’s like kingdom meets world. Entrepreneurship is the process of creating, developing, and managing a new business venture with the aim of generating profits or creating value. An entrepreneur is an individual who takes on financial risks to start and grow a business, using innovative ideas and strategies to capitalize on market opportunities.
I define kingdom entrepreneurship a s a special grace given to kingdom citizens to take steps of faith to accomplish kingdom mandates. I love the Star Trek show introduction, “to boldly go where no man has gone before.” I believe the Lord has men and women today, in this generation and in this hour, whom He has blessed to administrate kingdom financial resources.
I am forever reminded that the Lord used widowed women to accomplish most of the financial miracles performed in the Old Testament. The Lord loves to take what is not and make it what is. This makes sure the recipient understands that it’s the Lord’s mighty hand at work. Luke tells us that the Lord Jesus had women who followed Him and financed his ministry. Where were the men? I believe since giving is birthed in love, women who are more relational get on board first.
Luke 8:2-3 and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities — Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.
As we discussed above, in the world entrepreneurship is led by the need to produce a profit with an ultimate goal of achieving personal wealth. The Lord’s Spirit has rejected such worldly self-centeredness for us. We know that mature believers are others-centered in reference to their giving. We live to bring to earth WWJD “What would Jesus do?” Incarnating the Master “on Earth as it is in Heaven” is who we are.
In the Kingdom “the Lord’s mandate” or vision is the product of Rhema-fueled faith.
Rom 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word (Rhema) of God. This is not a sermon, the lyrics of a Christian song, or a series of Bible verses. This is a present-day revelation from the Lord via the Holy Spirit. Whether this hearing happens audibly or just appears audibly is of no consequence. The fact is what that kind of hearing does to us. It changes us and our perspective to the point that we are never the same again.
In the Kingdom Rhema-fueled faith is funded by Holy Spirit directed gift of giving. Those with the gift of giving are not necessarily the wealthy or the rich. The gift of giving is a wealth of the Spirit. Gift-of-giving people become the compassionate heart of our Lord. These believers are so in tune with the Lord’s heart concerning giving that they flow in giving without being conscious that they are giving themselves and their resources away.
Those two attributes, faith and giving, do not have to reside in the same person, but they can.
The Apostle Paul was such a man.
Acts 20:34-35 Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me. I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'”
What Maintains Religious System Giving?
The religious system is a system dependent on tithes and offerings. It’s also a system that uses various types of manipulation such as special days or special purposes for giving. Pastors, priests, and profits work the members to get the “needs” met. That was not a misspelling. To our shame, we have many prophets-for-profit teaching special messages on how to prosper. Thankfully, His Spirit has made us aware when we hear manipulation, and we run from it. We refuse to place our spirit and giving under that yoke of financial bondage ever again.
Organic Church Giving
At present most Organic Church Christians have not made the transition into Spirit-led giving. Proof #1 is God’s leadership, “mature teaching/fathering men & women,” are not being properly funded. Why? The “out of sight -out of mind” principle. If you are not “producing” and promoting your work for the Lord, you get very little or no funding. The root cause is not that our elders do not know proper fundraising techniques as the religious system would say. The root causes are failure of the body to care, failure to love, and failure to understand our assignments from the Spirit.
Do you believe that Father is not speaking to people concerning this blemish on our worship? Why is it mission sending or giving is not on the radar in most organic church groups and gatherings?
The reality is that at present the body of Christ is in a holding pattern concerning giving. They no longer tithe, and they no longer move much in the area of giving. This holding pattern has not been without cost. So, the real church is paying a price, leadership is paying a price, our brothers overseas are paying a price, and there are crisis areas in our cities and around the world that the government is having to take care of because the church is simply “absent while on duty” AWOD.
Therefore, the main question is do we continue as we are and leave it to the next generation to deal with supporting God’s leadership, or do we have the bandwidth today to take a step forward in faith? Are we so focused on the sinking of the Titanic (America) that we are not considering plans for the future? Can we pray at least for a concrete beginning?
The world is not hearing our words any more than the words from the system we left. If our words are not backed up by action which bring solutions to a hurting world, we are just promoting a “better” mousetrap.
The pendulum today has swung to the other extreme, away from any appearance of denomination. We find ourselves moving away from any kind of organization or any kind of united effort, the end result being the predicament the Body of Christ finds itself in today. We must regain our full identity as the body of Christ and throw off our American evangelical independent spirit. We must do this for the good of the kingdom.
So if we are part of the enlightened ones whom the Lord has graced with revelation concerning His true churches values and methodologies, what is the fruit of that wisdom concerning giving?
What is our spiritual legacy? What are we leaving the next generation?
So, you might be asking yourself “Okay Jose, what exactly are you proposing?” My answer would be I am not proposing anything. I am simply a voice in the wilderness seeking those whom the Holy Spirit has prepared for such a time as this. If this subject is not on your heart, as the Body, thank the Lord that it is on someone’s heart. If the current malady concerning giving in the kingdom is heavy on your heart lets connect and see what the Lord is saying to His Church today.
It is my prayer that His Spirit awakens you to pray and to hear from Him concerning your giving and support of His kingdom.
