Here we are at the beginning of 2013 and this morning, I began my yearly reading in the Acts of the Apostles of the New Testament. Some things haven’t changed much after 2000 years.
The disciples asked, “Will you restore the Kingdom to Israel?” I can hear them today, “Will you remove Obama and promote the Republican platform?” as if somehow the advancement of God’s Kingdom is tied to earthly political jockeying.
Religions Failure to Impact America in 2013
Today His Kingdom advances, but it isn’t even on the religious church radar. God’s ideas of success and advancement have nothing to do with human concepts of prosperity and wealth. Religion has had great media platforms, a plethora of titles and positions, and untold resources, yet it has failed to impact even one generation in this culture.
Most congregations enjoy the use of fine buildings and Disney World theatrics to entertain the masses that have cost them into the millions of dollars, yet we still can’t impact the world like a few poor fishermen did who were full of the Holy Spirit. We claim much but we show forth little. Could it be that all those choreographed sounds, lights, and videos are externals that will never replace a heaven-sent outpouring of His Glory on a thirsty people?
This culture has relegated Christianity to an alternative or one more drug for the masses. Many of our greatest enemies are ex-religious members of our dead and dying traditions. They speak with great understanding of our human systems and their failures because they have experienced them for themselves.
This culture hears the cries of the poor and the disadvantaged, and they are moved to respond. They really do have a sincere heart to see something impact their generation, but they have no faith in our religious Jesus. I have tried to minister to many of them, but until they experience the real thing, they will not listen. They hear of the “Glory” inside our four walls and think, “How can they be so deceived?” So again in 2013, we find ourselves rich in things and poor in impact.
Rev 3:17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked — NKJV
Father forgive us… we have failed you and we have not accomplished those things for which you placed us on this earth. Have mercy, Lord, and may your unmerited favor break our hearts afresh. Bring the tears back, Lord, when we were simple in our sight, when we trembled at your word and refused to move without your voice. Amen
Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, I command you to raise up your eyes from those things that have kept you distracted and deceived from the truth. The time has come when I will move to physically shake the economy of this country for your sake so that you will no longer rest on it and put your sole trust in Me. Remember that you belong to me, and I bought you at a great price. I also am committed to your growth as a Father to His children. It will be difficult in the coming days, but it will be my great love for you.
Behold I am a jealous God and I will not share you with your many lovers! Repent and return to me while there is yet time!
For I the Lord have great plans for you. Plans you have no idea about. My plans for you are beyond your greatest expectations. I will use you to IMPACT the Nations for my glory. In the darkness will be your greatest opportunity for advancing my Kingdom. When others hold and hoard, you will give away. The more you give away, the more I will fill. Your baskets will never run dry. For I am the Lord, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Is there anything too hard for me?
May we hear and obey your voice Lord!
